# 2.10. General ledger & journal

> New general ledger and journal reports (beta) in Records, a redesigned column settings modal, and a range of other improvements and fixes.

## General ledger & journal (new, beta)

We've added comprehensive new general ledger and journal reports to the **Records** section of Caleido.

* Three tabs: General ledger, Journal and Transaction lines
* Full search and filtering on every field, including memo text, counterparty, invoice number, VAT codes and dimensions
* Click an invoice number to open the linked PDF, or an account number to jump to the general ledger filtered to that account
* Row checkboxes and a contextual summary row that shows the number of selected rows and their total debits and credits. You can also add dimension labels directly from the general ledger
* Budget transaction lines are shown alongside actuals. The default date range runs from the start of the previous full month to the end of the current month

## Improved column settings

We've redesigned the column settings modal to make it clearer and easier to use.

* The display toggle (**Series**, **Total**, **Both**) is now available on the default ACT and BUD columns. A new **None** cadence option collapses all values into a single column
* Cadence is simplified to D/W/M/Q/H/Y buttons, and the card-based cadence picker is gone. A date offset toggle hides the offset settings when you don't need them
* New **Save as new** and **Create new** buttons for column templates. You're warned about unsaved changes when you close the modal
* Sections are reordered: **Data**, **Cadence & time offset**, **Columns**, **Format**, **Naming**
* Better default date ranges for new templates (ACT: from the start of the previous half-year to the end of the previous month; BUD: from the start of the current month to the end of the current year)

## Table sorting & other improvements

* Sort the report table directly by clicking a column header, and company logos are now fetched as counterparty avatars in reports
* VAT handling in budgeting is fine-tuned for more accurate cash flow forecasts, and salary cash mode (Procountor) is now production ready
* You can now set the VAT payment field value on individual transactions, and more bank transaction fields are fetched from the Enable Banking API
* A combined progress bar and loading indicator shows loading status more clearly, and queries on cumulative data are faster in large organizations

## Bug fixes

* Fixed VAT amount calculation for 25.5 % VAT lines in list view, and the "Previous period" date offset in formulas, which didn't calculate correctly on the first occurrence in a series
* Fixed several visibility issues: expand arrows on expandable rows, arrows on financial table rows, and the calendar not opening for the end date in budgeting settings
* Fixed a crash in the template preview when expanding nodes on transaction lines, and Netvisor sync stopping when permission to read deleted invoices is missing
* Multiple other fixes and visual corrections
