This page walks you through the Caleido screen so you know where to find things. Everything starts from the sidebar on the left. The page you open fills the main area, with a top bar above it and, on workbook pages, a tab bar along the bottom.

The sidebar

The sidebar has four parts, from top to bottom.
1

New

Click New to create something. The menu has two groups:
  • Workbook, Template, Chart and Budget create a new item of that type. Template opens the Builder, and Budget opens the budget panel with an empty budget
  • Under In current workbook, Tab and Chart tab add a tab to the workbook you have open. They are only available when a workbook is open. Otherwise the tooltip says Open a workbook first
2

Pages

Below New is the list of pages your organization has, such as your statements, themed views and Settings. A row with an arrow expands to show its tabs, so you can jump straight to a tab. A row with a clock icon is marked Coming soon and can’t be opened yet
3

Workbooks

The Workbooks section lists the workbooks you can open: your own, shared ones and curated ones. Click a workbook to open it, and click its arrow to see its tabs. See Create a workbook
4

Account menu

Your name and initials sit at the bottom of the sidebar. Click them to open the account menu

Work with sidebar rows

  • Open in a new browser tab: right-click a row and select Open in a new tab, or hold Ctrl (Cmd on Mac) while you click a workbook
  • Reorder the pages: open Settings, select Navigation and drag the rows into the order you want. Reset to default brings back the original order
  • Resize the sidebar: drag its right edge
  • Hide the sidebar: click the panel icon in the top left corner. The tooltip reads Collapse. Click the same icon again (Expand menu) to bring the sidebar back

Find a workbook

The Workbooks header has three buttons:
  • Search workbooks opens a search field. Type part of a name to filter the list
  • Filter workbooks shows All, Mine, Shared or Curated workbooks
  • New workbook creates a workbook
When the filter is All and the search is empty, you can drag workbooks to reorder the list.

The top bar

The top bar shows where you are and holds the actions for the current page.
  • Breadcrumb: on a workbook page it reads Workbook, then the workbook name, then the open tab. Click the workbook name to switch to another workbook or create a new one. If the workbook has saved versions, a version selector appears next to the name
  • Search box: Search anything… sits between the breadcrumb and the page actions. It finds transactions, invoices, budget items, counterparties, reports and other objects from any page. Press Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on Mac) to jump to it. See Find anything with global search
  • Edit workbook: puts the open tab into edit mode so you can add, move and remove elements. Click Save to keep the changes or Cancel to discard them
  • Actions: opens the commands for the current page, such as Export to PDF, Export to PNG and Copy as PNG
  • Budget selector: on pages that use one budget for the whole page, the budget selector sits in the top bar. On workbook tabs, each element has its own budget. See Manage budgets

The tab bar

Workbooks and report pages have tabs along the bottom of the screen, like sheets in Excel.
  • Click a tab to open it. Hold Ctrl (Cmd on Mac) and click to open it in a new browser tab
  • Click + (Add tab) to add tabs
  • Click the arrow on a tab, or right-click it, to rename, recolor, move or remove it
  • Click the menu icon at the left end to see every tab in a searchable list

The account menu

Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar to open the account menu. The Caleido version number is shown at the bottom of the menu.
Many pages also have How-to videos in their Actions menu. They open short videos for the page you are on.
