The direct cash flow shows where money came from and where it went. Caleido works it out from the movements on your balance sheet accounts. An increase and a decrease on the same account usually mean different things: a debit on a loan account is a repayment, a credit is a new loan. That is why on the Cash flow tab each account is mapped twice, once for Debit movements and once for Credit movements. Read Direct cash flow to learn how Caleido builds the cash flow from your data.

Open Cash flow mapping

1

Open Settings

Click Settings in the sidebar, or open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar and select Settings
2

Open Cash flow mapping

Under Accounting, click Cash flow mapping. Account mapping opens on the Cash flow tab. Click Full screen to open it as a page of its own
You can also switch to the Cash flow tab from Account mapping at any time. See Map accounts to the statements.

What the Cash flow tab shows

Left: the Unmapped list. An account appears once for each direction that still needs an answer, with a Debit or Credit badge. Accounts are grouped by where they sit on the balance sheet:
  • Unmapped to balance sheet: accounts that have no balance sheet row yet. Map them on the Balance sheet tab first
  • Assets and Equity and liabilities, each split by balance sheet group
  • Profit & loss accounts, if your cash flow template also uses P&L accounts
Use the All, Debit and Credit filter to work on one direction at a time, and Expand one level and Collapse one level to open and close the groups. Right: the cash flow statement. Next to Range, two extra columns:
  • Direction shows which movements a row takes: Debit, Credit or D / C for both
  • Value shows the impact the mapped accounts have on the cash flow, as a sample
Cash and bank accounts are not mapped here. They are used to reconcile the net cash flow and are mapped on the Balance sheet tab.

Map debit and credit movements

1

Pick a direction

Optional: set the filter to Debit or Credit to see only one kind of movement
2

Select accounts

Click the account rows you want to place. Tick a group to select every account in it
3

Drag them to a row

Drag the selection onto the cash flow row where the movement belongs. A Debit row only takes debit movements, a Credit row only credit movements, and a row without a direction takes both. Rows that can’t take what you are dragging are dimmed
4

Check the result

A check mark confirms the save, and the account appears under the row. The other direction of the same account stays in the list until you place it too
Changes are saved straight away. When everything is answered, the list says Cash flow is mapped. When all three statements are complete, it says All accounts are mapped.

Change or remove a mapping

1

Find the account

Use Search above the statement, or expand the rows
2

Select it

Tick the account, or a row to select every account under it
3
